I had been renting out my property out for many years with the Bournemouth branch of Fox & Sons with no problems or concerns and had always been very happy with the service I had received from this branch.
I received a call from Chris Myers who is the Southampton London Road branch manager, informing me that they would be taking over the management of my property due to the Bournemouth branch closing ... Due to the positive experience I had over the years with the Bournemouth branch I accepted this change over.
Almost straight away problems started. On several occasions fees were wrongly taken from my tenants rent which I then struggled to get back for some time.
My longstanding tenant moved from the property so the London Road branch of Fox & Sons found another tenant for the property. Chris Myers (Branch Manager) again contacted me to say he had found a tenant for me whom had been fully referenced and was good to move in. I paid for this referencing to be done on this tenant and gave full trust to the agent so did not ask to see these references. It came to light very quickly that this tenant was not fit to privately rent so I contacted Chris Myers and asked to see the tenant’s references. Chris would not provide these references but instead continually lied and came up with excuses... I could only be left to feel that the references were either not done or they were not positive so the tenant should not have been given the opportunity to move into my property. I was massively over charged for all services including the cleaning of the flat. When I challenged Chris on this I was informed that the cleaning company that the London Road branch use is a “personal friend” of his so due to this he felt that the charges were ok and would not listen to my complaints... Calls were rarely returned and complaints not listened to so I took the decision to leave this company as it was evident that the branch manager Chris Myers could not be trusted to manage my property.
All in all I found dealing with the London Road branch of fox & Sons very stressful due to the non transparent service, continual lies, poor advice and general lack of professionalism. It was very evident that corners were continually cut by the branch manager which would most likely be to keep the commission coming in but with no regard for the tenants or landlords. The branch also lost two sets of keys for my property.
