I always use this place when down from Edinburgh and find the staff friendly and welcoming.They have tried really hard to improve the place in tough times.Of course you always get the odd idiot as stated in other reviews but is a far nicer place than the run down Shirley Hotel.Tim

And now it seems you can get a bottle smashed over your head for free, so still a classy place to visit, and if you're lucky you may even get to see the "lesser spotted landlady" a rare big bird........

Avoid. Although refurbished you still get Shirley's finest specimens in there, and a landlady and bar staff with such a bad attitude, that's when the landlady is actually there...................

Recently refurbed so looks okay. Lots of work been put into trying to turn the place around. Darren and Yaz a great couple and have spent a lot of money and a lot of time trying to make a difference
