I came into Raphael with high expectations as several of my friends had recommended them to me on different occasions. However, all in all, I had a deeply upsetting experience and will not be going back again.
My appointment was delayed by 20 minutes, and although one hairdresser was free from half way through my wait, and even came over to say she would be taking my appointment, as I got up, herself and I were both informed that I wasn't booked with her and so I had to continue to wait. Honestly, I would be completely and utterly forgiving of this slight mishap was it not for what I endured after.
Within roughly 5 minutes of my appointment I had already been insulted due to the state of my hair, and rather than giving me constructive help as to how to combat it, I was just told that it was for me to do and to find products on the market; although no specific products were specified. I ended up finding myself apologising as I felt like I had done something wrong and was being told off by a school mistress. This dynamic continued throughout the haircut. The hairdresser insisted on using very technical vocabulary which I found very alienating and therefore I was unsure as to if I was actually going to be happy with the haircut at the end, but as she was a hairdresser I trusted her to know best, especially as I had been as helpful as I could be with explaining what I would like. Unfortunately, I have ended up with a haircut that I really can't stand and feel that she hasn't given me the haircut I asked for nor what suits me personally, but more a haircut that is more current and on trend so that she feels she has done an edgy up-to-date haircut. She also completely and utterly overstyled my hair, adding far more products than I am comfortable with to my hair so I looked more ready to go on an avant-guarde catwalk than portswood highstreet so I was left feeling extremely uncomfortable and anxious for the remainder of the day until I could wash my hair. I am now left with a haircut that I feel has completely infantilized me, shorter than discussed and with a different fringe to what I thought we had discussed.The hairdresser also went on to claim she should have done a before and after with me, although I recognize she probably meant this in a positive way, I can't help but feel offended that she felt I was in such a state before, especially when I am now not sure that I look any better than that. I will not be returning to Raphael, which is a shame as I get the feeling that had I had a different hairdresser my experience would have been totally different, and potentially a very positive one.

Despite having visited Raphael's before and having been satisfied with the service, I feel I have been hugely let down by my latest visit there. My appointment was pushed back by around 20-30 minutes due to the hairdresser chatting and seeing another customer during my appointment. The hairdresser (who I have never had before) was often rude and insulting, insulting my appearance coming in. Despite me clearly explaining the haircut I wished for, she ignored me and gave me haircut she stated would put me 'on trend', despite it not being what I asked for. As a consequence, I find my current haircut deeply uncomfortable as it is not what I asked for and is far too short. The hairdresser was often rude and aggressive (especially in terms of her handling of my head and with razors around my ears) and stated that she felt she had improved me through the haircut she had given and that I should never let myself look as I had ever again. Finally, when paying, after I politely explained I was not on the paid loyalty scheme, she aggressively asked me to leave, which I found to be deeply uncomfortable.
As a consequence of this mortifying and uncomfortable experience, I have decided never to return to Raphael's. Despite the excellent service I have had in the past, this experience has been so uncomfortable and so upsetting that I have decided to look elsewhere.

After walking in seeing if they have an appoints they had informed me that they were fully booked, 5 minutes later aomeone else walks in and gets served without having an appointment for a wash and cut. I had been waiting on the sofa appalled that they had served another customer whilst I was still waiting to be served. I had asked at the desk again but they had refused to serve me. I have never been treated with such disrespect from a hairdresser. They were impolite and had talked down to me. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere where they will treat you with respect.

All of the hairdressers are pretty amazing-I go there regularly and no disappointment so far, incredibly professional for such low prices!

At first I was extremely skeptical of the whole set up and the fact that the haircut itself was £8 (£10 incl. wash). I clearly described what I wanted to be done to my hair (note: my hair is very difficult to cut since its very straight).
Halfway through the session I was a bit worried since the length was not what I had expected it to be.
After about 30/40 minutes he had perfected the haircut and I couldn't be happier with the result. I could tell that he had been properly trained (used various techniques etc.) and I would definitely go there again.
Very happy about the outcome, especially at that price.

went to have a haircut as they have their 8 pounds promotion haircut. was then asked whether i wanted a wash and i said yes thinking it was inclusive. apparently not. a 5 minutes wash cost me an extra 4 pounds so in total i had to pay 12 pounds. it would have been nice if i was informed that the wash was an additional 4 pounds,
To top things off the haircut was BAD. i even showed stylist the picture of the type of cut i wanted and when he was done the cut ha gave let alone the hairstyle he did for me was nothing like in the picture. This would be my last visit to this place!

Do not go here unless you want to be cheated of money! I paid for 6 sessions of laser hair removal and phoned on the morning of one of my sessions to say that I could not make it, which at the time was fine and they happily rearranged. After my fifth laser appointment I was told it was my last session. I insisted that I had one more session and the lady explained that I lost one of my sessions (that I had already paid for) because I did not give 24 hours cancelation notice. I said that I had no choice but to rearrange because of personal reasons. I also advised that I was not told of the cancelation policy over the phone when I called to cancelled. She told me she would speak to her manager and call me back later that day. I did not receive a phone call back. I then phoned the following day and asked to speak to the manager, I was told I was speaking to the manager. When I asked for his name he told me that he did not know who he was speaking to so he would not give his name. Not the unprofessional manner I was expecting. I explained the situation and he told me in a very aggressive tone that he would not give me my sixth session because I had signed the document that contained small print of the cancellation policy. I explained that I was a loyal customer but he did not so much as apologise! I am appalled with the service, the way in which my query was dealt with and the way I was spoken to.
