Im am writing this review on behalf of a good friend whom feels something needs to be said about this advertised business. A duplicate front door key was purchased from Charlton Shoe Repairs this week and on arriving home, my friend thought she’d try the new version. For some reason after fully inserting the key, it failed turn the barrel so the original had to be used to gain access. Once the door was open, she again tried numerous times to turn the lock with the supplied key but noticed that the handle section of the key started to bend/twist. The following day the duplicate key was returned to the shop and the owner was politely asked if he could check it, or supply a replacement as the product appeared to be faulty. Unfortunately the shop owner didn't accept what was being said and became extremely abusive, then dismissed the fact that it couldn't possibly be his work or product and blamed the actions of my friend. When my friend defended her actions, the shop owner continued shouting with an aggressive manner accusing her with not pushing the key into the lock properly. He continued shouting stating that so many people return to his shop with faulty goods and always blames him. Perhaps theres a reason for this? As a business owner myself, I go out of my way to please every customer and understand their concerns if raised and rectifying them to the best of my ability. Is this above example really how customers should expect to be treated if something does go wrong? what if this was the only key she had if the original was faulty, was she to be left locked out? Was it the fact that my friend is a woman and again is an easy target to lash out on from what evidently was poor customer service on how he handles complaints. So on this note, I strongly urge you not to use this company especially as there was no compassion on how he treats his customers, nor no attempt to listen to her needs, or take responsibility of the substandard goods supplied which was clearly not fit for purpose. My friend was left extremely upset and in complete disbelief of her experience whilst using this business, and has now been left with a key thats only fit for a bin with not even an offer of a refund.
