My sister inherited a lot of furniture in a house she bought - she contacted the BHF in Southampton. They came and looked and refused to take anything ... she said it was just a run of different reasons, too big, too small, not needed etc etc. So she rang SCRATCH a far superior charity in Southampton that genuinely wants to help people in need.... funnily enough they took practically everything. So SCRATCH it is all the way now. Maybe BHF you need to take a look at your practices.
